Download Firmware Synology Disk Station Manager 4.0 build 2198

Synology released the first update a few days after the release of version 4.0 of Disk Station Manager. Synology DSM is the management software that runs on several of the company’s NAS products. The Disk, Cube and Rack Stations offer more than just extra storage space. For example, backups of all clients on the network can be made and files can be downloaded via http, ftp, bittorrent, usenet and emule, so that, for example, energy-hungry PCs can switch off at night, while the download just comes in. Furthermore, audio and video files can be streamed over the network via the built-in iTunes server, a dynamic website can be hosted using PHP and MySQL and it can act as a print server.

Version 4.0 can only be installed on the NAS models ending in 08- or later. New features include Cloud Station, which makes it possible to synchronize files across different computers. An antivirus program is also included and Surveillance Station, Photo Station and Download Station have been improved. There is also something to report on the mobile level, because there will be support for the Android Tablet and Kindle Fire, and that for the iPhone/iPad will have more options. In build 2198 some issues have been fixed, including not being able to access Synology over the internet.

Changelog:

  • Fixed an issue where you may not be able connect to your DiskStation via Internet when Firewall is enabled and set as “Deny Access if no rules are matched”.
  • Fixed an issue where the access to DiskStation share folders via CIFS protocol may be interrupted when DiskStation joins the LDAP service as client, and the account password is changed.
  • Improved the stability of accessing external NTFS drives via CIFS protocol.
  • Other minor fixes.
