Valve has started blocking accounts used to gamble at Team Fortress 2. The game company also recommends not trading with accounts used for this purpose. Valve has previously acted against CS:GO gambling accounts.

According to Valve, gambling sites have appeared online where Team Fortress 2 items are being traded. To counter this, the company has started blocking accounts associated with it. For the reasons, Valve points to its decision last July to crack down on gambling at CS:GO.

The sites use Valve’s api for trading in-game items, but violate the terms with their gambling practices. That api has been around since 2011 and Valve let the gambling sites do their thing for a long time. That changed when two popular YouTube vloggers were found to own a gambling site that they promoted in their own videos.
