Google has announced that all Chromebooks released in 2017 or later will have support for running Android apps. Furthermore, a large number of existing Chromebooks will also receive support.

The list of Chromebooks that will receive support mentions the vast majority of the existing offerings. The presence of a touchscreen is not required and the functionality can also be used on desktop systems. Google reports that it is still evaluating different models based on factors such as processor type, GPU and drivers. The list will be expanded as more devices receive support.

Google announced support for Android apps in May last year. The first three devices to receive support for the feature were the Asus Chromebook Flip, the Acer Chromebook R11, and the 2015 version of the Google Chromebook Pixel.

It is unknown when support will be available on the other models. Google had initially promised this before the end of 2016, but that date has not been met. In the run-up to support, more and more manufacturers are releasing Chromebooks with touchscreens, and some recently announced laptops with Chrome OS also have a stylus, such as the Samsung Chromebook Plus and the Asus C302CA.
