Microsoft is going to add a section to its Windows Store that sells e-books. The bookstore is likely to come to Windows in April along with the Creators Update. The feature can already be seen on screenshots from an internal build.

The images are from an internal Windows 10 Mobile build, owned by MSPoweruser. Although it is the Windows version for smartphones, the bookstore is coming to all Windows 10 versions according to the website.

Books will have their own section within the Windows Store, in which Microsoft now sells apps, games, music and movies. EPUB support has already been added to the Edge browser before and it should therefore be possible to open purchased books directly in the browser. The browser also gets a special section for books, where users can see which books they have purchased through the Windows Store. From the browser it is possible to adjust things like font size.

Competitors Google and Apple have long been offering books through their stores. It is not yet known how many books Microsoft will have available in its store. Buying the books would be no different from buying apps and games.
