Photos show second version Nvidia Shield handheld
Photos of the Nvidia Shield Portable 2 have appeared. The American approval agency FCC has released the photos of the device. It is unknown if the portable game console will ever appear again.
The Shield Portable 2 has the same design as the first version, which appeared on the market in 2013. The photos FCC discloses show a screen with smaller bezels than the first version.
Nvidia submitted the handheld to the FCC for approval last summer, but that doesn’t mean the device will be released. The company has asked the inspection body to keep the photos under wraps for six months. Usually manufacturers ask that to present the product themselves. However, Nvidia has not yet done so and it is unknown if the Shield Portable 2 is still there. The first Shield handheld runs on Android and has a Tegra 4 soc from Nvidia on board.
The company presented a Shield TV set-top box last week. Nvidia canceled a successor to the Shield Tablet it had been working on last year.
