Samsung has started offering the Android 7.0 update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Users of the beta can get the final version over-the-air, regular users will follow later.

The update for users of the beta is 215MB in size, SamMobile reports. It is unknown when the update will be released for users who are still on Android 6.0. Samsung has run a beta program in recent months, in which users could already test the update to help find bugs.

It had been clear for some time that Samsung wanted to release the update this month. The update appears to be based on Android 7.0 and not the newer Android 7.1 as it runs on the Google Pixel phones. Android 7.1 includes compatibility with VR system Daydream, although it is unknown whether Samsung will support it. The S7 and S7 edge already support the Gear VR, the VR glasses from the South Korean manufacturer.

Samsung released the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge last spring. To date, they remain the most expensive phones in the hardware maker’s range. That should have been the Note 7, but Samsung canceled the release of that device in the Benelux due to problems with the phone’s battery.
