Nvidia introduces G-Sync HDR

Nvidia has announced the arrival of displays with support for the combination G-Sync with HDR at CES. The panels were developed in collaboration with AU Optronics and, in addition to G-Sync and HDR, they also support a wider color range, which is close to that of dci-p3.

The first G-Sync panels that also support HDR have a diagonal of 27″ and a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. The maximum refresh rate is 144Hz and to display HDR, the backlight is divided into 384 zones, with support for hdr10 In addition, the panel can display a color range that is close to the dci-p3 gamut, according to Nvidia.

The first displays to use the new panel are the Acer XB272-HDR and the already announced Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ. Both screens will be available in the second quarter of 2017 for an as yet undisclosed price. The current 27″ 4k monitors from Acer and Asus, which therefore do not have HDR support, currently cost 719 and 839 euros respectively. Nvidia competitor AMD seized on CES to give G-Sync alternative FreeSync also HDR support. under the name FreeSync 2.
