Dell Releases 27″ Touchscreen Monitor for Horizontal Control PCs
Dell announced the Canvas at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. This is a 27″ screen that can be laid flat on a desk and then used as a control accessory for PCs. Dell includes a puck that can be placed on the screen for control.
Where monitors normally serve as an output medium, Dell positions them as an input device. The Dell Canvas 27 KV2718D is a 27″ screen with an IPS screen and a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. It is a multitouch screen, where twenty touch-sensitive points can be registered simultaneously. The screen can be placed flat on the table, but at the The bottom has a stand so that it can be placed in a corner.
Dell supplies a stylus for drawing, for example, but there is also an accessory called Totem. This is a kind of puck that can be placed on the screen and then, in combination with certain software, shows additional menu functions and controls on the screen. The puck is similar to Microsoft’s Dial, which the company provides with its Surface Studio.
The Canvas 27 offers a maximum brightness of 280cd/m2 and can display 100 percent of the AdobeRGB canvas. The interfaces are mini-hdmi, mini-displayport 1.2 and usb-c. The Canvas 27 should be released in April, but the price is not yet known.
