GoPro Announces Re-Releasing Karma Drone This Year
GoPro announced at CES that it plans to re-release its recalled Karma drone this year. The company is not giving details about the re-release and says it will share more information in February.
GoPro writes that it is currently completing tests of the drone. In November, the company, which is mainly known for its action cams, had to recall the drone. At the time, it turned out that some specimens could fall from the sky while flying. The company says this was due to a mechanical failure that affected the way the battery was attached. As a result, the energy supply to the drone could be interrupted.
GoPro has not shown any major new products at the CES electronics show and is only reporting access to new sensor data from the already available Hero5 Black camera through the Quik app. In addition, it announces a Karma Grip stabilizer.
In November, GoPro announced the layoff of 200 employees and the departure of CEO Tony Bates. This announcement followed redundancies that had already taken place in 2016. The company has been dealing with declining sales figures for a long time.
