Pegasus hearings: NSO remains vague about misuse of its spyware

Several European politicians took a new step on Tuesday in an investigation into the Pegasus spy software within the EU. D66 MEP Sophie in ‘t Veld, among others, wants to know who uses the tapping software and why. How did that work again?

The first hearing of a committee set up earlier this year to investigate the use of Pegasus will take place on Tuesday afternoon. Formally, this committee is called the ‘Committee of Inquiry into Investigating the Use of Pegasus and Equivalent Surveillance Software’. The co-initiator of this is D66 MEP Sophie in ‘t Veld, but the proposal for a commission of inquiry is led by more than a small group.
