Samsung makes Galaxy A devices water resistant for 2017
Samsung would like to make its Galaxy A-series smartphones all water-resistant for 2017. A new rumor mentions many of the specs and likely pricing of the new range of smartphones. Samsung has placed a teaser for the presentation of the phones.
Samsung would like to launch the Galaxy A3 2017 and A5 2017 in Europe as early as mid-January, IBTimes reports. It is unknown when the A7 should appear. The devices are mainly distinguished by the size of the housing and the display, although the specs also differ.
The Galaxy A series has been around for several years and focuses on the use of glass and metal in midrange smartphones. The devices run on Exynos-socs from Samsung’s own factories. The A3 2017 would have an Exynos 7870 on board. That is a 14nm-soc with eight Cortex A53 processor cores and a Mali T830 GPU from ARM. The 2017 A7 and A5 may have an Exynos 7880-soc, with four Cortex A72 cores at 1.9GHz and four A53 cores at 1.3GHz, assisted by a Mali T860MP4 GPU from ARM.
The Malaysian branch of Samsung has a teaser placed for the presentation of the phones, which is reportedly set to take place on January 5. This would make the announcement coincide with CES electronics fair in Las Vegas, although it is unknown whether the manufacturer will pay attention to the phones at the fair.
