YouTube’s PS4 app gets support for PlayStation VR
The YouTube app for the PlayStation 4 has been updated to version 1.09. The only part of the update is the ability to use the PlayStation VR glasses to watch 360-degree footage on YouTube.
The update’s distribution has been reported by Reddit users and PSVR News. Not everyone seems to be able to receive the update from 1.08 to 1.09 yet. Users who do have these are complaining about the low resolution of the videos. These would be limited to 1080p, stretched across the entire 360-degree image. When using Google Cardboard, the resolution can be set higher, up to 4k.
In addition, users experience display problems with 3D panorama videos. Some users can stream the 3D videos, but the stereoscopic image is not correct. The update does not bring any other new functionality. According to a screenshot from UploadVR, the changelog only reports that PSVR support has been added.
