InXile Entertainment has announced that Torment: Tides of Numenera will be released on February 28 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game has been available through Steam Early Access since early this year. The game is the spiritual successor to RPG classic Planescape: Torment.

The development team will announce the release date in a message on Kickstarter. In 2013, about four million euros was raised through crowdfunding to make the game. At the time, the plan was to release the game in December 2014. That deadline was not met, because the studio was also working on Wasteland 2 at the same time

Early this year, an early version of the game was released via Steam Early Access. Those who have that version will receive an update to the final version of the game on February 28. Backers who have pledged money through Kickstarter and are now playing the Early Access version on Steam can choose to have their key revoked. In return, they will receive a DRM-free variant of the game that will be released on GOG.

While the final release date has been announced, inXile says the game isn’t finished at this point. The final adjustments will be made in the coming months and the developer wants to announce more about it by the time of release.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is a classic role-playing game and is a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment from 1999. According to the creators, the game contains about 50 hours of gameplay and uses similar storytelling techniques to Planescape , something that game was famous for. Several of the writers and developers of the classic work at inXile Entertainment, including Brian Fargo, the executive producer.
