87.6 million Dailymotion accounts are on the street after hack
87.6 million user accounts of video website Dailymotion are on the street as a result of a hack. It also includes 18.3 million associated passwords, which are encrypted with bcrypt.
Hack notification website LeakedSource added the database to its paid “range” on Monday. Both ZDNet and BleepingComputer got their hands on samples of the data and verified that the data is not only real, but also undoubtedly belongs to DailyMotion. Data other than usernames, user IDs and a limited amount of passwords have not been leaked.
It is not known who is responsible for the hack. The digital break-in is said to have taken place on October 20. Dailymotion itself has not yet commented on the news. Although bcrypt is not easy to crack, Dailymotion users would be well advised to change their passwords and do the same on other sites where that password has been reused.
