HTC 10 will get Android 7.0 update from Friday
HTC will start distributing the Android 7.0 update for the HTC 10 on Friday. That will initially be happening in the United States and the manufacturer says the update for the smartphone will soon be available in other parts of the world.
Given the way HTC has distributed updates in the past, it will take up to a few weeks before the update also reaches users in the Benelux. The manufacturer has the beginning of the spread confirmed through their own Twitter account. The first users will receive the update over-the-air on Friday.
Since Thursday, a so-called ruu file has also been circulating on the internet, an installation file for the firmware of HTC phones. It also contains an edition of the 2.28.401 firmware based on Android 7.0. This allows users to install the 7.0 firmware via a PC, although all data on the device will be lost. Ruu files are intended for the recovery of devices that no longer function properly due to software errors, for example.
HTC previously confirmed that it wanted to update its 10-smartphone before the end of the year. This makes it not the first HTC phone with Nougat. The Google Pixels also come from HTC and came out with Android 7.1 Nougat and a developer had Nougat working on the HD2 from 2009.
