“Lenovo comes with passively cooled Miix 520 with Kaby Lake chips and ar camera”
Images and specifications of Lenovo’s IdeaPad Miix 520 have surfaced online. The passively cooled 2-in-1 comes alongside the Miix 510 and will be equipped with Intel Kaby Lake U processors and a dual camera for augmented reality.
The design of the Miix 520 is very similar to that of the Miix 510. The 12.3″ screen also maintains the resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. According to the specifications that WinFuture publishes, it seems to be a variant with more powerful parts. there will be configurations with the Intel Core i3-7100U, Core i5-7200U and Core i7-7500U, all three of the Kaby Lake generation. The Miix 510 is only available with Skylake processors. The German site further speaks of the presence of a cooling system with heat pipes and a vapor chamber.
In addition, Lenovo equips the 2-in-1 with a maximum of 16GB of RAM and a PCI-e SSD with up to 1TB of storage. Compared to the Miix 510, there is also a second USB-c connection, one of which is used for charging the device. The tablet is equipped with a fingerprint reader and can optionally be supplied with a Wacom stylus.
Striking is the presence of two cameras on the back. One is an 8-megapixel camera, the other is a 2-megapixel variant. The documents that WinFuture owns about the device make multiple mentions of “AR” with the camera system, which seems to indicate use for augmented reality.
Some smartphones are already equipped with two front cameras. This offers several advantages such as zooming in without loss of quality, measuring depth, taking 3D photos and videos, merging different exposures and improving image quality. Lenovo also has a smartphone with Tango module for augmented reality, but the sensors that are part of this are not seen on the Miix 520.
