Valve adds OSVR support to Steam

Valve has given Steam support for Open Source Virtual Reality. Games that support the platform now have an icon next to the name, just like with operating systems and other VR platforms.

OSVR is the third VR platform to be supported by Steam, after the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. The company has announced 32 games that will work with the platform, but when the Steam store sorts through games with OSVR support, many more come to the fore.

The platform was announced by Razer in 2015, along with its first full-HD display development kit. Razer’s goal with the platform is to create an open standard for manufacturers to freely develop headsets and games for.

The second version of the development kit was announced in June. The kit features a screen with the same 2160×1200 pixel resolution as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The kit has been in the Pricewatch for 489 euros since November.
