Blizzard posts vacancy for unannounced first-person project

Blizzard is looking for a lead software engineer for an unannounced project from the studio. What becomes clear from the vacancy is that this is a first-person project, which may mean a new part of an existing game or a completely new game.

The vacancy itself refers to an ‘unannounced project’ and in the vacancy overview this position is also placed under the heading ‘unannounced games and projects’. In addition to a developer working on the engine, Blizzard is also looking for one to work on the content creation tools, also under the heading of a new project.

To date, Overwatch is Blizzard’s only first-person game, which makes it quite possible that the studio is talking about a possible single-player mode for that game. Although it is also possible that it is a completely new game, this would be striking for Blizzard.

While Overwatch was a completely new franchise from the studio, the last time the studio released a completely new game before that was in the 1990s.

Blizzard also posted job openings for a new Diablo project earlier this year. Nothing further has been announced about that yet.
