Nvidia releases hotfix for driver issue with GTX 10 cards
As promised, Nvidia has released a hotfix for the latest GeForce driver. The new driver is supposed to fix an issue where the memory was stuck at a low clock rate on certain cards.
The update is called GeForce Hot Fix driver version 375.95 in full and can be found on the Nvidia website. The fix appears a few days after the release of the whql driver, which came out on Tuesday. After running that update, some GeForce video card owners saw performance in games plummet.
This was caused by an error in the driver, which locked the clock speed of the memory at a low value. According to Nvidia, it only occurred in variants of the GTX 1060, 1070 and 1080 that have been overclocked by manufacturers. It is unknown how many people were affected by the problem.
