Nintendo has put on its Japanese site that it will soon stop production of its console Wii U. A few weeks ago, the Japanese company presented a successor in the form of the Switch, a crossover between a handheld and a traditional game console.

The notice, “production to end soon (in Japan),” can be found on Nintendo’s Japanese lineup site, Kotaku writes. The site notes that the console manufacturer has stated that it is about Japan, making it unknown what is happening in other countries.

Last week, Nintendo denied that it would stop production of the Wii U, but did not say until when it would continue to produce the console. Earlier this year, Nintendo denied a similar rumor, but now the information is on a site of the manufacturer.

The Japanese company announced the Switch in October, a crossover between a handheld and traditional game console with 6.2″ touchscreen. The Switch will be released in March of next year. The Wii U came out four years ago and Nintendo has Shipped 13.36 million, which is far less than its predecessor Wii, which Nintendo shipped over 100 million copies.

Nintendo is releasing a ‘new’ ‘console’ this month: the NES Classic, which resembles a smaller version of the 1984 NES with thirty games on board.
