Xigmatek announces large Talon-H enclosure for hptx motherboards
Xigmatek has announced a new housing. The Talon-H accommodates motherboards up to hptx size for two-socket motherboards with extensive support for water cooling.
The enclosure accommodates four 5.25″ disk drives and thirteen 3.5″ or 2.5″ drives, spread across three removable racks. The enclosure supports HPtx, Eatx, XLATX, and smaller ATX motherboards with up to ten PCIe slots. The front panel has four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and two audio connections.
A 360x120mm or 280x140mm radiator fits in the front and a 420x140mm model at the top. At the back of the case there is room for a 140mm fan and four holes for water cooling pipes through. The housing is 68.5 centimeters high, 64 centimeters deep and 25 centimeters wide. Xigmatek has not yet mentioned prices and delivery dates.
With the support for large motherboards and the two holes in the backplate for mounting coolers, Xigmatek seems to be targeting users who want to build systems with two processors. Especially the support for the hptx format is striking. EVGA introduced this format in 2010 for the SR-2 motherboard, which featured two 1366 sockets and seven PCIe slots. EVGA introduced a second motherboard in the format in 2012, the SR-X. Apart from these two boards, no motherboards of this size have appeared anymore.
