Dell has updated the Alienware 13 with quad-core processors from Intel’s Skylake generation and the GTX 1060 video card from Nvidia. This makes the laptop ‘VR-ready’ according to the manufacturer. The design of the laptop has been brought in line with that of the other Alienware laptops.

Dell already published a pre-announcement of the new Alienware 13 in September and has now released the details. The laptop still weighs about 2 kilograms and the thickness is 23.3 mm, where the previous Alienware 13 was 27.9 mm thick. The housing is similar to the new Alienware 15 and 17. The LEDs of the cover have disappeared, the laptops have a short bulge at the back and the touchpad is now illuminated.

Furthermore, the keyboard has RGB LEDs and the keys have 2.2 mm travel. The laptop contains eye tracking technology from the manufacturer Tobii, which can be used to operate games, among other things. The web camera can be used for the Windows Hello authentication method.

Dell supplies the laptop with the Intel Core i5-6300HQ or i7-6700HQ quad-core, in combination with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM. As far as storage is concerned, there is a choice of up to two 1TB PCI-e SSDs, one for the OS and one for storage. The video card is the GeForce GTX 1060, which has 6GB gddr5. The 13.3″ screen displays a resolution of 1366×768, 1920×1080 or 2560×1440 pixels, depending on the configuration.

The cheapest model with the lowest resolution has a tn panel. The 1080p and 1440p variants have an IPS panel screen. Optionally, Dell builds in an OLED screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The additional cost compared to the IPS panel with the same resolution is 300 dollars.
