Apple leaks images of MacBook with OLED function keys
Apple has released images of an unannounced MacBook. The laptop in the images has an OLED screen in place of the row of function keys, which seems to be able to perform various functions.
The images were found in the update to macOS Sierra released Monday, MacRumors says. The images come from documentation for Apple’s payment service Pay and the large image can be found in a PrivateFrameworks folder of the Library folder. The payment service works with the fingerprint scanner that seems to be found on the right side of the OLED screen for the function keys.
There seem to be speakers next to the keyboard. The images concern a MacBook Pro, because that name is visible below the screen. According to previous rumors, the new laptop is thinner and lighter, has four USB-C ports and a 3.5mm output. The iPhones that Apple presented last month do not have that audio port.
It is rare for Apple to show a new product in images before the announcement. The company is holding an event on Thursday, where it is likely to showcase new laptops. The existing MacBook Pros are now one and a half years old and run on Intel Broadwell CPUs. The new laptops would run on Skylake processors.
