Developer will release game with UK touring car championship license in 2022

The American developer Motorsport Games is going to make a racing game around the British Touring Car Championship. The untitled game is due to be released in 2022 and will be available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The BTCC game should get all the cars, teams, drivers and circuits of the British Touring Car Championship, according to the Motorsport Games press release. The game will anyway be available for the PC and next-gen consoles, within the agreement between the BTCC and the developer there is also the possibility of a smartphone game. Multiplayer will probably play a major role in the game, Motorsport Games says the game will have an e-sports aspect.

According to the report, this is a long-term agreement between the developer and BTCC. The game may receive annual seasonal releases, as Codemasters is currently doing with the Formula 1 games. The game will not be the first BTCC game, in 1999 TOCA 2 Touring Cars came out with BTCC license.

Motorsport Games is a game developer that only makes car racing games. For example, since 2016, the company has released a NASCAR game every September, which is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and via Steam. The developer has also made games around Le Mans and Formula E.
