Starfield’s main quest is thirty to forty hours
It takes about 30 to 40 hours to complete Starfield’s main quest. So says game director Todd Howard in an interview with IGN. Furthermore, the developer gives more details about space battles and the cities that the player encounters.
According to Howard the longer playing time is due to the campaign having “more content” than previous Bethesda games. The developer estimates that Starfield’s main quest is about twenty percent longer than the previous games Bethesda has made. In comparison, Fallout 4’s main campaign lasts just under 30 hours.
In the interview, Howard gives more details about the cities in the galaxies, which collectively count ‘more than a thousand’ planets. There will be a total of four major cities that the player will visit during the main quest. The largest of these is New Atlantis, which according to the game director will be “the greatest city Bethesda has made”. Most of the planets are procedurally generated. The planets that have been designed by the developers themselves are provided with clear marking points.
Starfield is scheduled for next year. The game was initially scheduled to release on November 11, but was recently delayed because the studio wants to take more time to refine the game. The game will be out for Xbox Series X and S consoles, Windows, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Upon release, the game will be immediately playable via Game Pass. The first gameplay trailer of Starfield was shown during the Xbox & Bethesda Games.
