Release sci-fi platformer Replaced has been postponed to 2023
The release of the sci-fi game Replaced has been postponed to next year. Developer Sad Cat Studios, which is based in the Belarusian capital Minsk, cites the war in Ukraine as the reason for the postponement.
Replaced was announced last year and is set to release this year for Xbox consoles and PC. However, no release date had been announced yet. The war in Ukraine has had a negative impact on Replaced’s development, as a large part of the team works in regions that share a border with Belarus, writes Sad Cat Studios† “Our priority is the safety of our team and their families. As a result, part of the team had to move and we have recently resumed development of Replaced”.
That’s why the game studio, parent company Thunderful and publisher Coatsink have decided to postpone the release to 2023. Sad Cat Studios writes that it is “working hard to ensure the high quality seen in the trailer”, but that it will not come at the expense may rely on the mental and physical health of its developers.
Replaced is described by the makers as a retro-futuristic action platformer with graphics in 2.5d. Players take on the role of an artificial intelligence called REACH, who is imprisoned in a human body against his will. In the game, players have to discover the dark secrets of the city.
