Motorola will release a phone with a 200-megapixel camera in July

Lenovo subsidiary Motorola has announced that it will release a phone with a 200-megapixel camera in July. The device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 soc. Renders of the phone have already appeared.

Motorola posted a teaser who talks about the 200-megapixel camera and the July release of the phone. With this, the manufacturer confirms rumors that have been going on for months about the device, which would bear the code name Frontier.

The camera sensor is presumably the Samsung HP1. Users will rarely use the full resolution of the sensor. In low light, the sensor can combine sixteen pixels from the sensor into one pixel in the photo, resulting in an equivalent of pixels of 2.56 micrometers. This results in photos with a 12.5-megapixel resolution. In bright light, the sensor can capture photos in 50-megapixel resolution by combining four pixels or in the full 200-megapixel resolution.

The Frontier would be Motorola’s most expensive edge phone for this year. So far, the manufacturer has released the edge 30 and edge 30 Pro. Motorola has not confirmed any other details of the phone. As a result, it is unknown when it will be released and what it will cost.
