President Putin of the Russian Federation has denied that his government was involved in the recent hack on the US Democratic Party. According to the leader, traces found after the hack are “difficult to verify”.

Putin made his statements during an interview with Bloomberg. He said he knew nothing about the hack, and also denied that the Russian state ordered the hack. The Russian leader also rejects allegations that Russia wants to influence the elections in the United States. About the traces found pointing to Russia, he says that hackers may have done this on purpose.

Putin does state that the question about who broke into the Democratic Party derives from the information that was released during the hack. According to Putin, it is important that the information is made public, and that is what the discussion should be about.

Some time ago, WikiLeaks featured nearly 20,000 e-mails from the Democratic Party, obtained by a hacker using the pseudonym Guccifer 2.0. The same hacker then leaked personal data of 194 Democratic congressmen. Government officials and the FBI suspect Russia ordered the hacks to play into Trump’s hands in the upcoming presidential election. However, Guccifer 2.0 has always denied that.
