Lenovo has sold slightly fewer PCs and a lot fewer smartphones in recent months than in the same months last year. This is evident from the manufacturer’s quarterly figures. Compared to the previous quarter, however, things were better.

In terms of smartphones, Lenovo says it is focusing more on the high-end phone market and paying less attention to cheaper models, raising the average selling price per device. Partly as a result, deliveries of smartphones fell by 31 percent to 11.2 million devices. Compared to the winter months, deliveries increased by 3 percent, the manufacturer notes.

Lenovo counts not only smartphones under its own brand, but also under that of Zuk, which is mainly active in the Chinese market, and Motorola. Lenovo took over Motorola from Google some time ago and released the Moto G4 in recent months, for example. It also presented the Moto Z with MotoMods, click-on accessories for both Moto Z models. The Moto Zs should be released in the Benelux this fall.

In the PC area, shipments fell 2 percent to 13.2 million units. Lenovo thus claims to be the market leader in desktops and laptops, with a global market share of around 21 percent.
