Samyang introduces 20mm f/1.8 lens for full-frame DSLRs

Samyang Optics announces a bright ultra-wide angle lens with manual focus. The 20 mm f/1.8 ED AS UMC is suitable for cameras with a full-frame sensor and comes on the market in versions for almost all brands for a suggested retail price of 520 euros.

The manual lens has an optical construction consisting of thirteen elements in twelve lens groups. Two aspherical lens elements are used to ensure high image quality. The minimum focusing distance is twenty centimeters and the aperture consists of seven rounded blades. Filters of 77mm can be used on the 20mm f/1.8 and depending on the version, the weight is 497 to 520 grams.

Samyang will release the 20mm f/1.8 ED AS UMC in variants with lens mounts for the DSLRs from Canon, Nikon Pentax and Sony. There will also be variants for the system cameras from Canon, Fujifilm, Sony, Panasonic and Olympus. The bright lens has a suggested retail price of 519.99 euros. There will also be a 20mm T1.9 variant for filmmakers with a modified housing, which variant costs 579.99 euros. Both will be available mid-September.
