Despite the introduction of the HTC 10 and according to the company good sales of the Vive glasses, HTC has suffered a loss of 4.2 billion Taiwan dollars, converted 118 million euros. It is the company’s fifth consecutive quarterly loss.

HTC’s quarterly turnover amounted to 18.9 billion Taiwan dollars, or 534 million euros. Compared to a year ago, the quarterly loss has therefore improved somewhat; then HTC suffered a loss of 5.1 billion Taiwan dollars. However, sales also fell by 33 percent.

Because the loss compared to the previous quarter was smaller and turnover was 27 percent higher, HTC spoke of ‘improved performance’ in the second quarter. According to the company, the HTC 10 will continue to drive sales momentum into the second half of 2016, and HTC CEO Cher Wang is looking to the future with confidence.

At the end of the first quarter of 2016, pre-orders of the Vive led to good sales, according to the company. Deliveries started on April 5, which means that the sales of the glasses have been included in the quarterly figures for the past quarter. However, deliveries suffered from reduced availability. HTC promises to improve the availability of the VR glasses with an ‘aggressive’ program in the US, Europe and Asia.
