Niantic removes power-saving mode from iOS version Pokémon Go
Pokémon Go has received an update with a number of improvements. It is striking, however, that developer Niantic has removed the power saving mode from the iOS app. The footprints that say something about Pokémon nearby have also been removed.
The update has been rolled out for both the Android and iOS versions and will therefore arrive automatically for most users. With the power saving option, the screen was dimmed when the smartphone was held in a ‘horizontal’ position. Reportedly, there were issues with the feature among some iOS users. The feature is still available in Android.
The footprint feature was meant to indicate which Pokémon are close by. The number indicated how close a certain Pokémon is, but the function turned out not to work well. It is possible that Niantic will choose to return the footprints later, if they do function.
In a list of changes, Niantic reports that it is now possible for users to change the appearance of their avatar if they want to make changes after creating it. Several animations and graphics have also been adjusted, including those in gyms and those of the achievement medals. In addition, a number of bugs have been fixed, including errors that occur when encountering a wild Pokémon.
Last week, developer Niantic announced that it was also working on new features for Pokéstops. It must be possible to influence these locations with objects. No changes have been reported for Pokéstops in the just released update for Pokémon Go.
