Max Payne developer Remedy to write story for Korean shooter
Finnish game studio Remedy will write the story for CrossFire 2 from South Korean developer Smilegate. The first version of online fps CrossFire was a huge success in Southeast Asia; for example, the game still grossed $1.3 billion in 2014.
Smilegate officially announced at the CrossFire Vision Summit in Shanghai that Remedy will be creating the storyline for CrossFire 2. The project has been going on for some time, but now it has been released for the first time.
CrossFire is a free-to-play fps and was introduced in 2007. The game was released in China in 2008. The shooter has several modes in which eight gamers compete as mercenaries against another group of eight mercenaries. The story revolves around an ‘epic global’ conflict between the Black List and Global Risk groups.
Money is earned by allowing players to purchase premium items that give extra Game Points. The extra GP can also be earned with certain missions. Certain premium weapons and special items can only be purchased with ‘real’ money. Apart from the collaboration with Remedy, little is known about CrossFire 2.
