More than a billion people use Facebook on their smartphones every day

Facebook is used by more than a billion people on a smartphone or tablet every day. At the end of the quarter, 1.03 billion users were active on their mobile device every day. Facebook also made a lot more profit.

According to Facebook, there were 1.13 billion daily active users on the social network in June. That is 17 percent more than a year ago. Of these, 1.03 billion are mobile users, an increase of 22 percent. The number of monthly active Facebook users has risen to 1.71 billion. 15 percent more than last year. There are 1.57 billion monthly users active on a mobile device, up 20 percent from the same quarter in 2015.

Facebook posted quarterly revenue of $6.4 billion and a profit of more than $2 billion. That’s nearly triple the profit in the year-ago quarter, which was $719 million. 84 percent of Facebook’s ad revenue comes from ads served on mobile devices. Last year it was 76 percent.
