AMD has announced more specifications of the Radeon RX 460 and RX 470. The cards with Polaris GPU were announced in mid-June, but AMD announced few specifications at the time. The RX 470 has a Polaris 10 GPU, the RX 460 a Polaris 11 chip.

AMD announced the properties at an event in Australia, Videocardz writes. The RX 470 has a lot in common with the RX 480, including the cooler. With the RX 470, the Polaris 10-gpu has 32 compute units enabled, while the RX 480 can have the full 36 units.

The memory bus is 256 bit wide on both cards. The reference card of the RX 470 has 4GB of memory, but manufacturers can choose to place 8GB of gddr5. AMD said at the unveiling in mid-June that the RX 470 will be capable of 1080p at 60fps, which the company substantiated with its own benchmarks.

The RX 460 is mainly intended for moba games, which require less graphical computing power. The budget card has a Polaris 11 gpu, which communicates with 2GB gddr5 via a 128-bit bus. AMD hasn’t announced pricing and exact availability yet, keeping it to “late July.”

AMD said nothing new about the arrival of cards with Vega GPU, except that it concerns a ‘high-end architecture for high-end gamers’. The company republished its roadmap, with Vega set to be sometime around late 2016, early 2017.

Update, 10.20: The relevant specifications were already in slidedecks from AMD that appeared earlier. AMD has provided several presentations to the press in which details about the cards were given to a greater or lesser extent. Among other things, there was an image of the Radeon RX 460 with a red fan, which differs from the black fan of the image below in an earlier slidedeck. However, there is no reference map of the RX 460, so that little can be derived from this.
