Social medium Pinterest has bought onscreen keyboard maker Fleksy. The app can still be installed from the various download stores for the time being. Pinterest only buys the technicians, but not the technology.

Prior to the announcement of the takeover, it was quiet around Fleksy. It is unknown why this was the case. Fleksy also did not say what amount is involved in the acquisition. Pinterest only buys the technicians, but the keyboard itself is not included in the takeover, according to a statement that Droid-Life has put online.

The technology behind Fleksy, which can help blind and partially sighted people type on touchscreens, will be open sourced online, after which interested developers can further develop that part of the app. Fleksy is an onscreen keyboard with aggressive autocorrect features, allowing users to choose to make it smaller. There is also a variant for smartwatches. Fleksy is four years old.
