Crucial releases MX300 SSD with 3D Nand TLC memory
Crucial has released its first SSD in the MX300 series. The 750GB model has a suggested retail price of 212.39 euros. The 2.5″ SATA SSD uses 3D Nand TLC memory. Variants with different storage capacities will appear later.
A lot of information about Crucial’s MX300 series appeared online in April, but the SSD had not yet been officially announced. Now the manufacturer has put the 750GB model on its website. In the MX300, Crucial uses 3D Nand memory for the first time, which parent company Micron developed together with Intel. 3d-nand uses chips with stacked layers, in this case 32 layers of 384Gbit, bringing the capacity per chip to 48GB.
The SSD uses a Marvell 88SS1074 controller. Crucial promises read and write speeds of 530MB/s and 510MB/s and provides the SSD with hardware encryption. Power loss protection is also present. The MX300 comes with Acronis True Image HD software to transfer data to the SSD.
AnandTech and Tom’s Hardware, among others, have tested the MX300 750GB SSD. There will be m2 variants and 2.5″ models with capacities of 275GB, 525GB and 1050GB later. When these models will be released has not yet been announced.
