First Motorola Moto 360 will not get an update to Android Wear 2.0 – update
Motorola has indicated that the first version of the Moto 360 will not receive an update to version 2.0 of the Android Wear operating system. The smartwatch is probably too old to be provided with new software.
Motorola’s support department announced that the software update will not come by posting a Twitter message places. Little further explanation was given, but it is likely that the discontinuation of support has to do with the age of the Moto 360. The smartwatch with the round screen came out about two years ago. Motorola previously let know that updating the Moto 360 to Android Wear 2.0 would be subject to a decision by Google.
Google recently announced Android Wear 2.0 at the Google I/O developer meeting. The new version brings a number of new features, including the possibility to use the smartwatch without a connection to a smartphone. Developers can also add more information in their watchfaces with a new api.
Update 11:31 am: Motorola late know that the Moto 360 will still receive security updates, should vulnerabilities be discovered.
