OnePlus puts data Android skin OxygenOS online – update

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has uploaded data from its Android skin Oxygen OS to GitHub. At almost the same time, Paranoid Android, the custom ROM that many OnePlus developers used to work on, announced it was starting again.

It seems that both announcements are related. Paranoid Android says it will support Sony devices, Nexus phones and OnePlus smartphones. This means that there is no support for devices from major brands such as Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Lenovo, LG and HTC. In addition, notes tweaker P1nGu1n, OnePlus director Carl Pei retweeted the announcement of Paranoid Android on Twitter, suggesting a relationship.

OnePlus started Oxygen OS after hiring about half of the development team of custom rom Paranoid Android. The OnePlus One came out with CyanogenMod, but after tensions between OnePlus and Cyanogen, the collaboration ended and the manufacturer wanted to develop its own skin.

Data from Oxygen OS is now available on GitHub. OnePlus will bring the data online in the run-up to the announcement of the upcoming OnePlus 3. That will take place next week. The OnePlus 3 is rumored to have a 5.5-inch OLED screen, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820-soc and, unlike previous phones from the manufacturer, it has a metal housing.
