Google has updated its Now on Tap service. Now users can let Google search for things related to selected text. In addition, it is possible to search by image, including the live image of the camera.

For example, users can look up information about a movie by pointing their camera at a movie poster and then calling up Now on Tap with a long press on the home button, reports the search giant. This way also works to find information about well-known buildings and other striking places. There is no need to actually take a photo.

Now on Tap can do the same with on-screen images, with the software using the image to interpret what users are searching for. The function now also works with selected text. This allows users to make it clear to the software what they are looking for information about by pressing the home button.

Google introduced Now on Tap as a feature in Android 6.0 Marshmallow last year. The feature only works on 6.0 and above, allowing up to 7.5 percent of Android users to use the feature.
