Cortana for Android can forward notifications to Windows 10 PC after update
Microsoft has provided Cortana for Android with an update, allowing the app to forward notifications to Windows 10 PCs. Microsoft’s digital assistant is still not available in the Benelux.
The notifications Cortana sends from the smartphone arrives a few seconds later in the Action Center on the Windows 10 PC, says Reddit user jhoff80. It is also possible to reply to notifications from the PC, after which they end up in the right place via the telephone. Cortana can forward all notifications on Android, but there is an option to only forward notifications from certain apps.
Cortana is in the Play Store, but is not available in the Benelux. The site ApkMirror has meanwhile put the new version online as an apk file to be installed. In addition, the feature requires a PC running version 1511 of Windows 10 or later. That amounts to an Insider version of the operating system.
Microsoft announced the feature in April. The feature works on Android and Windows 10 mobile, but not on iOS due to restrictions imposed by Apple. It is not the first time that Android phone users can see notifications on their Windows PC. Apps such as Pushbullet have been able to do this for several years now. It is the first time that it has been baked into a service from Microsoft itself.
