Google lays two sea cables connecting the Middle East with Europe and Asia
Google to install two submarine fiber optic cables in the Middle East. One of the two cables must make the connection to Southern Europe. The other fiber optic cable is intended to provide better services in Asia. Both cables should be operational by 2024.
The Blue Submarine cable system will connect Israel to Italy, France and Greece, while the Raman Submarine cable system will connect Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, Oman and India.
Both submarine connections contain sixteen fiber pairs, but Google does not provide details about the capacity. According to the company, especially users of Google Cloud and other Google services will benefit from “the increased capacity and reduced latency”. Members of the consortium behind these works will attempt to connect the two cables via land at a later date.
