Microsoft integrates Facebook into Outlook for iOS and Android
Microsoft has announced Calendar Apps for Outlook on iOS and Android that connect Wunderlist, Facebook, and Evernote to the Outlook calendar. Users can give those services access to their tasks and calendar items in Outlook via the apps.
Microsoft already provided the ability to view Outlook.com, Office 365, Gmail and iCloud calendars in the Outlook app for Android and iOS and access email and contacts from those services. Now the company comes with Calendar Apps for Wunderlist, Facebook and Evernote initially.
These services can thus be added to Outlook in terms of calendars, just as was possible with Sunrise before. For example, users can connect a Wunderlist account to Outlook, choose ‘Add Calendar App’ in the calendar and then view all Wunderlist’s to-dos. With Facebook, for example, events and birthdays can be viewed via Outlook.
Microsoft’s goal is to make Outlook a hub for a range of user services. Part of this strategy last year was the successive acquisitions of Sunrise and Wunderlist.
