Developer Omega Force has announced in the Japanese game magazine Famitsu that it is working on Dynasty Warriors: Eiketsuden, a role-playing game in the well-known Dynasty Warriors style. The game will be released for the PlayStation 3, 4 and Vita.

Dynasty Warriors is traditionally a hack and slash game where a single hero takes on hundreds of opponents. With Eiketsuden, Omega Force takes the game series in a slightly different direction, turning the game into an RPG. The player takes on the role of Zhao Yun, a general who could also be played in previous Dynasty Warriors games.

The game is mainly focused on grid-based strategy and battles are done through action scenes where the player has no control over the actions. The large groups of enemies do appear on the playing field, which are attacked in the scene in a way that is reminiscent of the usual Warriors games. For the rest, the game should be a more traditional RPG, with different weapons, upgrades and a world that can be traveled around. The gameplay is also likely to be turn-based.

Eiketsuden will be released this year in Japan for the PlayStation 3, 4 and Vita and will be published by Tecmo Koei. According to Famitsu, the game is already about seventy percent complete.
