ASRock comes with Z170M OC Formula motherboard in matx format
ASRock comes with a micro-atx variant of its OC Formula motherboard for Skylake CPUs. The manufacturer claims to place as many strong electronic components on the PCB as possible. There, the motherboard offers space for two DDR4 memory modules.
With its Z170M OC Formula motherboard, ASRock is targeting users who want to build a compact system without compromising on overclocking. The motherboard uses a 24pin ATX connector and an 8pin EPS connector, good for fourteen phases for the CPU and two phases for the memory.
The motherboard is made of a PCB that consists of ten layers. The mosfets feature aluminum heatsinks and ASRock uses Nichicon 12K platinum capacitors. The board also features ASRock’s ‘Hyper BCLK Engine’, a chip that makes it possible to overclock processors that do not have an unlocked multiplier based on the baseclock setting.
There are three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and the socket 1151 socket can accommodate Intel processors of the Skylake generation. There are eight SATA600 ports, two SATA Express connections and one Ultra-M2 connection available for connecting HDDs and SSDs. The motherboard also has six USB 3.0 ports and two USB 3.1 ports, a type-a and type-c variant.
When the motherboard will appear on the market in the Benelux and at what price is not yet known.
