Nvidia releases Quadro M6000 with 24GB vram

Nvidia has released a new version of the professional Quadro M6000 video card. The vram has doubled to 24GB, but the graphics card still features the GM200 GPU based on the Maxwell 2 architecture.

The number of Cuda cores has remained the same compared to last year’s model at 3072. The maximum Boost speed is also the same at 1.14GHz, which means that the maximum speed for single precision operations is still seven teraflops. The 24GB of vram consists of 24 chips of 8Gb-gddr5, the previous model used the same number of 4Gbit chips. The Quadro M6000 has a TDP of 250W.

The GPU communicates with the memory via a 384-bit wide bus, with which the maximum bandwidth is 317 GB/s. The video card can control up to four displays in 4k resolution. The GPU has four displayport 1.2 connections for this. There is also a DVI connection and support for VGA.

The Quadro M6000 also comes with new temperature and clock speed management options. Nvidia’s professional cards usually come with more extensive options than the consumer models. The new options are presumably made possible by new firmware, although Nvidia does not let us know.

The $5,000 video card is intended for the business market and will go on sale from March 22. A price in euros is not yet known. The new version of the M6000 completely replaces the previous model.
