Details Survival Mode Fallout 4 Discovered Early
Details for the upcoming Survival update for Fallout 4 have been revealed on Reddit. Users managed to extract the details from the game files. Bethesda has admitted that the information is correct, but the mode is still being tinkered with.
On Reddit, user ‘rayQuGR’ posted a list of the things that change when a player selects Survival mode. Saving the game is limited to only when a player puts the character to sleep for an hour, and fast travel is not possible on the highest difficulty. These two changes had already been suggested by Bethesda as possibilities in an earlier interview.
A large number of previously unknown changes also emerge from the game files. The option for Survival is in the gameplay options, under the difficulty settings. If Survival is selected there, ammunition is given a weight, just like in previous Fallout games on the highest difficulty. Furthermore, enemies no longer appear on the minimap and it becomes important to take good care of the character. Drinking, eating and rest are important. If this is not done, the character will get tired or sick with dire consequences.
Playing on the highest difficulty automatically gives the player the Adrenaline perk. This bonus allows the player to deal more damage. The only way to improve this perk is to kill other characters. Sleeping reduces the extra damage the player deals thanks to the perk.
The higher difficulty update for Fallout 4 is something that fans of the series have been waiting for since the game’s release. Fallout 4 didn’t include the high-difficulty Survival mode at launch like previous games did. Shortly after release, Bethesda announced that it was working on an update with the new mode, but revealed few details.
Bethesda has admitted that the information is correct and has himself said that the details are a preview of the upcoming mode. The studio does indicate that it is still being worked on and that changes may therefore take place. Earlier, the studio also announced details of the upcoming DLC packs and the promised support for mods.
