Panasonic releases two new Toughpads
Panasonic is releasing two new tablets in the Toughpad series, FZ-N1 and the FZ-F1. The N1 comes with Android 5.1.1 and the F1 with Windows 10 IoT. Furthermore, the tablets are practically identical in appearance, except for a few logos.
The Toughpads are intended for environments where devices have to be able to take a beating. Unlike more standard tablets, the Toughpad has a barcode reader on the back of the device, among other things.
In addition to the extra protection around the screen by means of slightly raised bezels, the tablet has a 4.7″ screen with 1280×720 pixels. The computing power is provided by a Qualcomm MSM8974AB quad-core processor at 2.3GHz. 2GB of internal memory is available. and there is 16GB of emmc flash storage, which is expandable via a micro-SD card with up to 64GB.
Furthermore, the device has three microphones and two speakers. The speakers can produce up to 100dB of sound. The screen can also be operated with gloves on. The front camera is 5 megapixels and the rear is 8 with a built-in flash.
The device can handle two SIM cards and includes 802.11ac, LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC. The standard supplied battery must be able to stand on 3200mAh for up to 700 hours on standby and function for up to 12 hours under heavy load. A larger battery of 6400mAh can also be supplied. The whole measures 15.54×7.41×1.63 centimeters. The batteries can be exchanged in the meantime.
The Toughpad FZ-N1 with Android will be available from June 2016. The Windows version will be available a little later in the fall. Prices start at 1746 euros and 1715 euros excluding VAT, respectively.
