Indie developer group Poem Studios is working with fans on Apeiron, a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 4 and will have new missions and worlds.

As the original game is under the rights of Disney, Apeiron may not be sold. As a solution to this, the game is being released for free. To be able to pay for the development, the Poem intends to accept donations, but first wants to finish a larger part of the game.

The project’s website features images of both Endar Spire and Tatooine. Comparison material is also available to clarify to what extent Apeiron differs from the original version. The images show the environments from the first-person perspective. In Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, there was also the option to view from this perspective, but it was not possible to play that way.

When the game should be fully released is not known, but the development can be followed live on the Twitch page of the developers. At the moment the developers are focused on creating the playing fields and some C++ code has been written for a few levels and characters. As such, the game is still in Alpha. The studio is looking for more fans to help with the development.
