Creator Five Nights at Freddy’s World pulls game from Steam
Scott Cawthon, developer of the Five Nights at Freddy’s game series, is pulling the latest addition to the series from Steam. In his opinion, Five Nights at Freddy’s World is incomplete and needs to be further developed.
Cawthon says that once Five Nights at Freddy’s World is completed, he will offer the game for free. The demo of the game is already free to play on GameJolt, but once the developer is done with the game, the demo will be replaced with the full version.
Cawthon recommends that players request a refund on Steam even if they have a positive experience with the game. He goes further by stating that he has asked Valve to make sure that everyone can get their money back without being bound by the usual rules. Normally there is a limit to the amount of time the game can be played and how long ago the game was purchased before it can be returned.
The Five Nights at Freddy’s games are structurally released earlier than planned, but Cawthon has never believed that he released the games too early. FNaF World is an exception to this. In a previous post on the Steam forum, the developer said he was so eager to show off the finished parts that he ignored the parts that weren’t quite finished. To improve this, he announced at the time that he would release several updates. This plan has now been scrapped and the game won’t be released until everything is ready, Cawthon said.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 1 to 4 are strategic horror games in which the player tries to survive nights. At night, robotic animals are on the way to kill the player, but they only move when they are not being watched by, for example, the cameras that the player has at his disposal. Five Nights at Freddy’s World is a different type of game. In the game, the player takes control of the robot animals during an RPG adventure.
